Public Sector and Government, despite challenges faced in meeting Government spending reviews, will remain a very significant sector within the UK, and particularly the Scottish, economy. About one-third of jobs in Scotland are in the public sector.
Devolved powers continue to develop, with scope for future change. Myriad areas dealt with by this sector include the built environment, e-government, enterprise and innovation, finance and pensions, international relationships, partnership working and management, procurement, science and technology and sustainable futures, amongst others.
We advise a diverse range of Scottish public bodies and non-departmental public bodies in relation to their legal affairs, covering areas such as local and national government, health, education, transport, emergency services, and more.
We also advise the private sector in relation to their dealings with and within the Scottish public sector.
Our services for this sector include, amongst others, freedom of information advice, Human Rights Act compliance and training, judicial review of public authorities, constitution and regulation of public sector bodies, public procurement and contracting, State Aid issues, and engaging with the Scottish Government and Scottish Parliamentary monitoring and procedures.
