Liquidation

Liquidation is a process by which the affairs of a company - usually one in difficulty - are placed in the hands of a licensed insolvency practitioner who has the task of realising assets and distributing the proceeds for the benefit of creditors.

Whether the process is started by creditors or the company, voluntarily or in court process, MacRoberts has substantial experience in advising companies, directors, creditors and purchasers in relation to all aspects of the procedure.

Members of the Corporate Recovery Group have handled hundreds of liquidations over the years and have been at the forefront of legal thought in this area, with Group members having been engaged in some of the most important insolvency issues for over a quarter of a century.

Clearly, liquidation is not an easy time for anyone involved but, thanks to our experience and expertise, we seek to make the process as smooth and straight-forward as possible.

In recent years, dealing with Pension Scheme shortfalls has been one of the major areas of growth in insolvency and thanks to our unrivalled Pensions & Employee Benefits Group, and our in-house Pension Trustee company we are able to provide insolvency practitioners with a seamless service in dealing with one of the most complicated assets/liabilities they may have.
